npower Player of the Month awards for February

Ipswich Town striker Connor Wickham has been named npower Championship Player of the Month for February. Wickham scored four times during the month – including a first senior hat-trick at Doncaster Rovers.

npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins said: "Wickham has been in excellent form recently. His performances this month have shown exactly why he is regarded as one of the hottest young strikers around."

The npower League 1 award has gone to Peterborough United’s Craig Mackail-Smith for February. Mackail-Smith has impressed the London Road faithful with a seven-goal return during the month.

Manager Darren Ferguson said: "Craig has been exceptional since I returned to the football club. He has made improvements to his game and is technically better, as his second goal at Oldham Athletic demonstrated. Craig is the leading goal-scorer in the division at the minute and long may his good form continue."

Sky Sports’ Football League expert Peter Beagrie is on the Player of the Month judging panel. He said: "Mackail-Smith has helped himself to seven goals in seven games this month. The fleet-footed striker is relishing the extra pressure on him since the sale of Aaron McClean."

Finally Bury’s Ryan Lowe has been named npower League 2 Player of the Month for February. Lowe netted seven goals in six games during the month, to keep Bury’s automatic promotion hopes alive.

Emma Collins added: "I’d like to congratulate Connor, Craig and Ryan on behalf of npower, and wish them and their teams the best of luck for the rest of the season."

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Peter Beagrie, Football League Head of Communications John Nagle, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit and npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins.
