npower raises over £13,000 for disabled sport charity

Kind-hearted volunteers from npower have raised £13,508.54 for WheelPower, a charity which provides sporting opportunities for disabled people.

After the team spent a day with WheelPower playing basketball and rugby in wheelchairs, they pledged to raise enough money to buy three sports wheelchairs – one for each of the sites that npower Business operate in.

A range of activities were organised across Hull, Leeds and Solihull such as wolf runs, exercise challenges and raffles, culminating with a quiz and auction night in each of the three sites.

WheelPower help disabled people transform their lives through sport. With an estimated 750,000 wheelchair users in the UK, WheelPower are dedicated to providing disabled people with the opportunity to live healthy, active lifestyles through sport.

Sally Morton from npower Business said: “This experience has been eye-opening and we hope that the money raised can help others find the confidence, enjoyment and friendship we’ve experienced with the events, through sport. There’s also to be a secret hope amongst the team that we are helping someone on the path to future Paralympic glory, but we will all be immensely satisfied if we can help just one young person smile.”
